Stay Hydrated and Snack Often
Put down the energy drinks! Water is, in the long term, the best way to stay hydrated and energised throughout your shifts.
Make sure, also, that you keep snacks handy. No, not sugary snacks! Snacking on nuts and dried fruit will promote a slow release of energy that will keep you going throughout the 12 hours.
Get Proper Rest
The key to energy during your shift is what you do before your shift. Make sure you are getting as much sleep as possible to withstand the long shifts. You can take a long break and have a nap or you can take smaller, periodic breaks to break away from the stress and make some time for yourself.

Wear the Right Uniform
Make sure you're wearing comfortable uniforms that you can not only work in, but rest in, too. Scrub joggers are a great choice for longer shifts where you need that touch of comfort. Invest in a good, orthopedic shoe also.
